eLearning Edition of "Software Inspections and Peer Reviews" presented by Karl Wiegers, Principal Consultant at Process Impact www.processimpact.com Copyright (c) 2004 by Karl E. Wiegers. All Rights Reserved. Thank you for licensing this training seminar, which is a comprehensive introduction to the powerful quality- and productivity-improvement techniques of software peer reviews, with a special emphasis on the Fagan inspection method. System Requirements =================== 1. You will need a Web browser. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer, Firefox, or Netscape 7 or newer (or Mozilla equivalent) are recommended, although other browsers and older versions of these browsers may work. For Unix and Linux, the Mozilla and Konqueror browsers, should work. Safari is recommended for Macintosh. 2. You will need the Adobe Flash 6 or newer plug-in for your browser. You may download the Flash player from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash. If you have any problems with the presentation playing correctly, make sure you have the most recent version of the Flash player installed. 3. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or later to view or print the PDF files. You may download the Adobe Acrobat Reader from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html. 4. You will need Microsoft Word and Excel to access the reference documents in those formats. 5. You will need speakers or headphones to hear the audio. 6. Set your screen resolution to at least 800x600. 7. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser. Running the Presentations ========================= The CD is configured to autorun on Microsoft Windows. If it doesn't run, or if you are not running Windows, try the following actions: 1. Make sure your Web browser is already open before loading the CD. 2. View the file directory for the CD and launch the index.html page. 3. View the file directory for the CD, right-click on index.html, select Open With, and select your web browser. 4. View the file directory for the CD in your Web browser and open the index.html page from there. 5. If all else fails, copy the files from the CD to your computer (about 113MB; you might want to try just one module first to see if this works) and then launch the index.html file. 6. Some problems have been reported running the presentations from a Web server if SiteMinder verification software is being used. No workaround is known for this problem.
