Programming Competition: In order to better prepare for programming competition in the Fall, it was suggested that we host several practice competitions (approx. 3) over Spring semester. Formal competitions such as these, instead of informal meetings between individuals, will get a better turn-out. Jake is at this time in charge of this, if you'd like to help him with the planning, let him know. Industry Trip: We asked last semester what sort of businesses people wanted to see for our industry trip this year, and time is running short. We have a list of businesses in the Seattle and Boise areas, but if there is somewhere in particular you want to visit that is unlikely to be considered previously, time is just about gone to let us know about it. As it stands, we plan on spending the first day driving out to location, the second day and third days visiting companies (if possible) and then returning the fourth day. There should be time in the evenings for some fun as well. We plan at this time to be leaving the first Sunday in Spring Break (March 16th), but the time frame may be pushed back if the businesses we contact are not ready for us early in the week. Companies currently being considered include, but are not limited to: Microsoft, Micron, Valve, Nintendo, and Epic. If you are interested in being part of the trip, and you were not counted last night, please contact us sooner rather than later. Game Jam: We plan on having a 24 hour Game Jam this spring, during mini-spring-break. The jam would start on Thursday April 17th. We plan on using the museum lab for this, though of course people may leave for sleep and such. We would prefer that the coding is done at the lab, but it will not be required. The theme will be anounced when the jam starts at 7pm Thursday, and submissions will be due the following evening, also 7pm. Last but not least, we will be having a LAN Party Friday, January 24th. Show up around 6-8 as usual for some games, and bring some cash if you would like to order pizza. Don't forget your ethernet cables! Garrett Brown ACM Secretary
